Classically structured Cabernet Franc that is the result of several years long pursuit to obtain the exacting taste of Lamorinda's unique, flavorful and earthly Terroir.
Dry farming emphasizes the mineral expression of the flavor and aroma of sandstone rock formation that is just beneath the topsoil. The steep incline where the vines are terraced helps naturally drain the water, thus leaving the roots in constant competition.
This vintage spent over 60 months in French Oak barrels. Only twenty-eight (28) cases made.
More about Cabernet Franc:
Cabernet Franc is a red wine grape that is often used in Bordeaux blends to add acidity and aroma. Cabernet Franc is usually used as a minor (10%-15%) component in blend with other varieties. The only notable exception is Chateau Cheval Blend in Saint Emilion. Genetic research indicates that it is the parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. It makes wines that are lighter and fruitier than the Cabernet Sauvignon.
